Tim Barber

Tim earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Cincinnati and a Master’s degree in Historical & Sustainable Architecture from NYU London, and is a USGBC LEED Accredited Professional. Growing up in an historic Ohio town, Tim began his career by working in urban reclamation, historic preservation, adaptive re-use and even joined the first Earth Day celebration – and continues to advocate for sustainable design. He opened Tim Barber Architects in Los Angeles in 1994, focused on shaping the future of vernacular, residential architecture.

Tim is a founder and former President of the Southern California Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA), and has served on the National Board of the ICAA. In 2023, he was recognized with the ICAA-SoCal Legacy Award for his contributions to building the organization’s highly regarded education program. He enthusiastically supports the Los Angeles Conservancy, TreePeople, and Habitat for Humanity.
