Shingle Style
Beverly Hills, CA
After months of searching for the perfect new home, this family ultimately decided to tear down their nondescript 60s house and this new, custom shingle style home was born. Like every TBA residence, this house was a marriage of the sensibilities of the owners — this time, a traditionalist husband and a modernist wife.
The home features spaces perfect for entertaining: cocktails on the terrace, movie night in the screening room or a ruthless game of pool in the game room. A two-story foyer is given human scale with a deep-coffered ceiling, overlook window and high wood paneling. The rambling master suite enjoys his and her closets, a private study and a view terrace.
We captured and bounced natural light throughout the home with interior windows, transoms, ceiling sashes and leaded glass doors. Custom millwork brings character and texture, adding thoughtful layers to a home that embodies the respectful dialogue between modern living and traditional principles.
