We teamed up with a Colorado architect and friend to create this country home and outbuildings for our Los Angeles clients. We used heavy timbers, local stone, wide planks and natural cedar shingles to contrast with open-wire-fence railings and light-filled rooms. The shaker-plain interiors, spare iron railing, restrained millwork all contribute to the serenity. We provided a straightforward kitchen, lots of waxed plank floors, a few reclaimed wood ceilings plus ample bookcases and built-ins.
Every room is oriented to provide spectacular views. Yet once the sun has set, the deep porches shelter a stone fireplace — perfect for big dogs and winding down after a day of high adventure with friends and family.
