IN PROGRESS:

New California Homestead

Pacific Palisades, CA

Project Type: New Build
Project Size: Over 10,000 SF
Current Phase: Construction Documents

Project Team
Project Manager: Ari Engelman & Jim Coyle
Job Captain: Dominic DijamcoMengying Bai
Design Associate: Maxwell Pittman & Omar Femat

The Assignment: Design a new “California ranch complex”- home with pool house and guesthouse, providing ample room for family gatherings. The home includes multiple wings and terraces, quietly integrating the natural canyon landscape.

Currently: Our team has completed Construction Documents. After much consideration, the homeowners have decided to not build this project.

Standout Details: A glass entry tower is hidden from the street to maximize privacy. The connected structures are sited to provide maximum yard space with minimal street presence. Stone and traditional exterior wood details warm an otherwise modern plan. The exterior wood detailing is essential to the design, but the project is in a high fire zone – requiring careful selection of exterior materials that do not burn easily.

Sustainable Features: Natural ventilation, PV panels, tankless water heaters, VRF HVAC system, native landscaping, multiple EV charging stations, tree protection; PV battery storage, water filtration, smart home system, stormwater management (Permavoid), aging in place/universal design components
