Pacific Palisades, CA
The previous incarnation of this home was oh-so-Santa Fe but our homeowners felt more at home in Martha’s Vineyard. There were amazing views, but much of the house was introverted. We devised a plan to make the home’s plan more sensible, while capitalizing on its magnificent location.
We started by removing lots of rounded plaster, lop-sided ceilings, long, crooked hallways and an adobe fireplace. Then we expanded the master suite and the kitchen, creating new views and extending others. We created a bright, high-ceilinged gym over the garage. The plan was simplified, while adding custom cabinetry, millwork and windows, lighting and wood floors. Lastly, we finished it off with an outdoor fireplace and pergola — our new favorite place to watch the sun set over the Pacific.
