The Assignment: Starting with a 1920s Spanish Revival home in need of repair, we’re renovating the existing living spaces and removing a 1960s addition that is incongruous with the original style of the home. The renovation, with our new addition at the back of the house, new landscaping throughout the site, and new ADU will create space for a young family to live, work, and entertain.
Currently: We are completing the interior architecture of the house and ADU.
Standout Details: The existing home has wonderful details we’ll be preserving: chamfered and curved exterior walls, a cast stone design and ornate front door, and a wooden coffer ceiling, to name a few. The new back porch will be a hub for indoor/outdoor entertaining. The addition at the back of the house will have softly curved plaster ceilings and embrace natural light.
Sustainable Features: Preservation and protection of mature palm trees on the property; solar collectors on upper roof areas; shading over south-facing windows and doors to prevent excessive heat gain; multi-zone VRF system for efficient heating and cooling.
