We are seeking a full-time Design Associate with five-plus (5+) years of residential design experience to join our team-structured studio. This important position supports the design, development and documentation of exceptional new and re-imagined single-family custom homes that celebrate the unique character of their place while bringing wise sustainable practices.
As Design Associate, you will contribute to meaningful projects in some of the nation’s most coveted communities – that improve the lives of our homeowners and our planet. Your day-to-day will include everything from completing as-built measurements and creating construction documents to polishing artful renderings. In collaboration with project team members, your role helps ensure excellence in the homes we create.
Architectural Responsibilities:
- Draft and detail schematic, permit and construction drawings
- Develop and prepare elevations, drawings, renderings and other visual tools for internal, client and agency presentations
- Research and interpret building and zoning code; plus city and other government agency permitting processes
- Support team in client communications and meetings, including thoughtful note-taking
- Support team in coordination of design, building and other project consultants
- Contribute to our studio’s continued education of building materials, construction methods and architecture history
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Maintain prompt, truthful and kind team and client relations
- Maintain accurate timesheets
- Provide support to front office in answering telephones, delivering packages and facilitating client meetings
- Provide support to our Office Library, including: Archived Drawings, Materials Library, Resources and Vendors Library, Visual Concept Library and Book and Periodical Library
Required Software Skills:
- AutoCAD, Revit, Enscape, Lumion 3D (SketchUp and Photoshop a plus)
- Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Billquick
Suggested Qualifications:
- Five (5) year Bachelor of Architecture Degree or Master’s Degree in Architecture from a NAAB-accredited university
- Minimum five (5) years of experience working in a residential architecture firm
- NCARB AXP participant preferred
